Who we are
Rearrange Your Room (rearrangeyourroom.com) is a room planner. This page explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it. Questions: hello@rearrangeyourroom.com.
You can use it without an account
Room plans you make without signing in stay on your device (in your browser's storage). We do not receive those plans unless you later sign in and choose to sync them, export a file yourself, or use a feature that deliberately sends something to our servers (listed below).
Accounts and sign-in
If you create an account with email and password, we store your name, email address, and a hashed password. We send email only for account things: confirming your address and resetting a password.
If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us. We use that to create or recognise your account and keep you signed in. We do not ask Google for access to your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, contacts, or other Google products. We do not use Google account data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
We keep a session so you stay signed in. We deliberately do not store your IP address or browser user-agent on that session.
Synced plans and pictures
When you are signed in and your email is confirmed, you can sync plans to our servers so you can open them on another device. Synced plans live in our database (hosted by Neon). Floor-plan pictures attached to a synced plan are stored in a private object store; they are served only through our app after we check that the plan is yours. Share links leave those pictures out.
Signing out clears synced plans from that browser, so the next person on a shared device does not see them.
Share links and comments
If you create a share link, anyone with the link can open a read-only view of that plan. If the link allows comments, signed-in people can leave notes pinned to the plan. Turning the link off stops old URLs from working.
Optional AI reading
If you use AI reading (turning a short request into rearrange instructions), we send the words you typed and the names of things already on the plan to our AI provider (OpenAI, or another provider we configure). We do not send your Google account details with that request. We keep rate-limit counts keyed by a hashed network address and a browser pass cookie, not by your email. The raw address is not stored.
Product links
If you paste a shop link so we can read a product's size, we fetch that page from our servers. We count those lookups by hashed network address for abuse limits.
Security and abuse protection
Sign-in, sync, share, AI reading and product lookups are rate-limited. Some routes use Vercel BotID to block automated abuse. We may refuse requests that look like they come from another website.
What we do not do
We do not sell your personal data. We do not run third-party advertising trackers on the app. We do not read your Google account beyond the sign-in details above.
Who else sees data
We use these processors to run the product:
- Vercel: hosts the website and API
- Neon: database and private picture storage
- Resend: account emails
- Upstash Redis: rate-limit counters
- OpenAI (or our configured AI provider): optional AI reading
- Google: only if you choose Sign in with Google
They process data for us under their own terms, only as needed to provide those services.
How long we keep it
Account data and synced plans stay until you ask us to delete them, or until we shut the service down. Rate-limit counters expire on their own. AI pass cookies last up to about a year on your device unless you clear them.
Your choices
You can keep using the planner without an account. You can export a plan as a file from the app. You can turn off share links you created. To delete your account and synced data, email hello@rearrangeyourroom.com from the address on the account. Local plans on a device are removed by clearing that browser's site data, or by deleting the plan in the app.
Children
Rearrange Your Room is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use after that means you accept the updated policy.
